Student travel expenses for the Florida FlyIns program are partially underwritten by the St. Petersburg Times. More formally known as The St. Petersburg Times International Journalism Practicum, the FlyIns program has received a five-year commitment from the Times and plans to travel to a different Latin American nation each fall to document community, culture and issues in words and pictures. Several University of Florida student journalists also have interned at and produced freelance work for the Times.
